Postdoc positions now available!

We are currently seeking two motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our team, to study mitochondrial DNA nucleoids and spatial regulation of mitochondrial gene expression in neurons. These positions are fully funded by multi-year federal grants. Our training program offers structured professional development in addition to typical research activities, via the MCB Departmental Postdoctoral Mentoring Program, the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences, and the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute. This position includes health and dental benefits, negotiable salary starting at $70,000 USD per year, travel funding for scientific conferences, and a negotiable housing/childcare supplement.

We are developing and applying innovative imaging and metabolic labeling platforms to dissect where and when mtDNA-encoded genes are expressed in the context of neuronal cell physiology, using primary murine peripheral nerves and Caenorhabditis elegans as models. We collaborate with the Bautista, Lumpkin, and Garriga labs here at Cal, as well as the Drerup lab at U Wisconsin.

Given the multi-year nature of our funding, there is the possibility to convert postdoc positions to the Project Scientist title series (permanent staff), pending proficient job performance.

Please send a CV, one-page research statement and list of 2-3 references to samlewis [at] berkeley.edu.

Undergraduates should apply via the URAP or SURF Programs. Post-baccalaureates should apply to the PREP Scholars Program.

The Lewis Lab accepts graduate students from the Molecular and Cell Biology Graduate Program, the Metabolic Biology Graduate Program, the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute, the Center for Computational Biology, and the Integrative Biology Graduate Program.
